Android Menu Icons

The Android menu icon collection includes 159 professionally-designed icons with a uniform style that's perfect for conveying quick information to users without being visually boring. Each icon is included in three different resolutions, including hdpi, ldpi, and mdpi, which allows developers to painlessly incorporate the icons into a wide variety of menus. These standard resolutions are complemented by an alpha channel that facilitates modification to icon translucency, a feature perfect for making the icons look smooth and seamless on any background.

Developers in need of further customization options can take advantage of the available PSD files (which include an extra layer for icon depth manipulation) as well as vector sources in AI and SVG formats. Catering to the diverse requirements of today's Android developers, the set takes both aesthetic and technical needs into account to deliver an easy-to-use and attractive product.

Making Tab and Menu Icons for Android

When designing mobile apps or drawing graphics for mobile apps, one must conform to srict guidelines. Re-using graphics made for other systems, especially desktop-based, is not a good idea. Foreign icons will look weird at best, or will render your Android apps hardly recognizable at worst.

There exist strict guidelines published for designing standard-compliant Android icons. Different design guidelines are published for tab icons and menu graphics.

Tab icons are drawn in individual tabs in tabbed UI. Tab icons should be provided in two different states: unselected and selected. It is recommended that tab icons are drawn as simple, flat shapes as opposed to images drawn in 3D or isometric projection.

Android OS and Android apps can run on a variety of different platforms using a wide range of hardware. In reference to icon graphics, those platforms can have different screen sizes, display resolutions, pixel density and dimensions. To accommodate the variety of screens, Android developers must supply all tab icons used in their apps in at least three resolutions to be drawn on low, medium, and high density screens. Pixel-wise, the outer boundaries for the three resolutions are defined as 24x24, 32x32, and 48x48 pixels. Inner dimensions should not exceed 22x22, 28x28, and 42x42 pixels respectively. By supplying all three standard resolutions, designers can ensure that their apps will be shown properly on a variety of platforms running the Android OS.

Menu icons are used in the "options" menu, and are displayed to the user when they press the Menu button. Similar to tab icons, menu icons should be flat, grayscale images. Just as tab icons, developers cannot use 3D or isometric projections.

Screen resolutions for menu icons are defined in a slightly more comprehensive way compared to tab icons. Instead of just two resolutions defined for tab graphics (inner shape and boundary box), the inner shape of menu icons can be smaller or larger depending on whether they are square-shaped or not. If a menu icon is square-shaped, its size should be smaller than for icons shaped otherwise. The reason for having two different sizes is to establish a consistent visual weight across the two icon types.

The outer dimensions for low, medium, and high resolution icons are described as 36x36, 48x48, and 72x72 pixels respectively. Inner shapes for square, low-definition icons should be 22x22 pixels, while non-square icons should fit into a boundary box sized 24x24 dots. Similarly, mdpi icons should fit 30x30 and 32x32 pixel boundaries, while high-definition images should fit into 44x44 and 48x48 pixel boxes respectively.

Instead of designing your own icons matching these guidelines, Android developers have an option of obtaining stock icons from professional designers. For example, Android Tab Icons by Aha-Soft offer 112 unique tab icons in selected and unselected states and all three standard sizes. If an additional size is needed, developers can render graphics at any size by accessing scalable vector sources. Developers See Dollars in Android Improvements – Wait for the Right Opportunity!

You are ready to get paid on Android because it has been a delicate subject for software or application developers, who are facing troublesome while they are turning software or applications into big money makers such as iOS counterparts. However, the big daddy or Google has finally evolved a new Website for Android market through which users are getting right options to get paid on local currencies for selling and purchasing the apps. Due to this sort of solution, now there are over 20 million users have download the computer apps, software, and many more important things by paying reasonable price. In this way, the developers can see dollars in Android improvements. If you want to purchase or sell the apps through Android market, then you need to look for the terms and condition through which you can easily accomplish this sort of job. Always, you should remember that opportunity is the first stage of success. So, you need to look for the opportunity through which you can sell or purchase the apps through Android market.

Other main improvement is the in-app purchases for the Android Market apps. Fe w payment providers such as Boku and Zong have deployed and tested same systems on the Android apps. However, it is Google’s move toward giving the native support for the in-app purchases for the virtual goods or extra content inside the Android apps. The developers who generally integrate feature will give a click payment through the Google Checkout and carrier billing from the AT&T and the T-Mobile. In-app payments can roll out to the consumers by an end of the quarter. Selling from within the app gives the Android developers the new method to make some money outside of the traditional advertising.
